Reflection

After completing this course, I feel I have improved as a writer. The writing workshops were one way I accomplished this. By being able to read through the writings of my peers I was able to gain knowledge on how to improve my own writing ability. The feedback I received was also very helpful in discovering ways to improve my work. The blog posts were another way I sharpened my skills. They provided an opportunity to synthesize my thoughts and feelings on a topic into a cohesive piece of writing. Class discussion was another way I generated ideas for my writing. I would here interesting ideas from my classmates that would help me develop my own thoughts and opinions that I would apply to my writing.

While writing this paper, I realized that I still struggle with formulating worthwhile ideas in a timely manner. This is something that I struggled with at the beginning of beginning of the course and I continue to struggle with now. But with assignments like the Mind Map, I am slowly learning how to better plan my writing process. Things did get hectic at the end of semester and I wasn’t able to work devote as much time to this project as I would have liked.

Beyond writing, this class also instilled within me the importance of civic engagement. This topic is of the utmost importance, considering the world in which we live. I now have a greater understanding of the problems that inflict our world and why it is so vital to fight for change.
